What do we aim to do?
Through all our work with children and families we endeavour to treat each individual with dignity and respect. It is also one of our principle aims to ensure the health, safety and welfare of children are of paramount importance.
Assessments:
We take a holistic approach by speaking to all significant adults and professionals involved with the child/ children to get their opinions and concerns in order to determine what is best for the child/ children.
We also try to ensure that each child/ children is given every opportunity possible to enable them to develop and nurture their relationships with each parent.
Supervised access:
There are occasions where it is important that a parent is supervised while having access with their child/ children. This can be for a number of reasons: if access has not taken place for a long time it is important that the child and parent are supported and guided in re-establishing their relationship and if there are child protection concerns.
In facilitating supervised access we aim to enable the child/ children to develop a nurturing relationship with their parent through a safe and professionally monitored environment.
We work with both parents involved to put in place boundaries and safety measures where needed to ensure it is a safe environment most importantly for the child/ children but most importantly for all involved.
Parenting courses:
Parents are faced with many challenges and difficulties in every day life with their children. We believe that every parent should have the space to learn more and get support by talking with other people to help parents fulfill the very important role that parents have. We are currently undergoing training and hope to set up parenting courses for parents around cork city in spring 2014.
